GLAUCOMA


GLAUCOMA is characterized by :
  • An Increase in pressure of the fluid within the eyeball and hardening of the surface of the ball.
  • Occurs usually after age of  forty (40) years old.
  • May be due to tumor, trauma, infection and heredity.
  • Associated with anxiety and stress, allergy or hormones disorders.
Symptoms include:
  • Eye discomfort or pain especially in the morning
  • Blurred vision
  • halos around lights
  • inability to adjust to a darkened room
  • Loss of vision at the sides
To reduce the incidence of blindness resulting from GLAUCOMA is by early detection. GLAUCOMA cannot be cured, but it can be controlled through the use of prescribed eye drops. Diet to those affected should be rich in Vitamin A
which is essential for eye tissue health.
    If the symptoms are related to a deficiency of the B Vitamins, then correction of the deficiency would decrease the susceptibility of an individual to GLAUCOMA.


    Alcohol, tobacco, coffee and tea should be avoided.
